You are correct. Zach injured his left shoulder on one of his first swings in the early cold season and could not recover with just in-season re-hab.

Both Zach (Kempsville) and classmate Brian McCullough (Princess Anne) have enjoyed their four years at Longwood and as 3yr captains, both took a major role in transitioning the team from Div II to Div I.
Each recently received two of the University's most prestigious Sports awards.
Brian was named the Male Athlete of the Year and Zach received the Male Henry I. Willett Scholar-Athlete Award.

Additions such as Frank and Topher (First Colonial) are just a sign of the bright future for Longwood baseball. Recruitment from the surrounding cities of Richmond, Tidewater, and Northern Virginia will keep Longwood in the mix of the highly competitive for a long time to come.

Zach looks forward to graduation next week eventhough he leaves with a year of NCAA eligibility. He starts the fall at UVA and will pursue his graduate degree Masters in Electrical Engineering. Go Cavs!
Congratulations Zack! Zack is a very good BB player with smarts too. I'm sorry for your injury in cutting your college playing time down. Zack came out of HS with my older son. I enjoyed watching him play back then. Good luck at UVA, though it does not sound like he needs any luck in the academic dept.

Brian was a teammate of my son at PA. He was a good high school pitcher but turned himself in a very good college pitcher because of desire and hard work. Congratulations on your award. See you this summer, I'm sure.
