I saw your earlier post. I actually believe that it would be a mistake for you to play up. Most top 15-16 year old players will be playing high school ball. At this time of year (hs baseball season) I believe that most good 14u tournament teams in my area would be able to beat a 15-16 year old team up until the time the high schoolers returned to the 15-16 team. In fact travel tournaments in my area do not have 15u and 16u brackets until the high school season is over. Also, a lot of top high school players play legion rather than travel during the summer. Sounded as if your pitching was ok but your hitting was a weakness. If your hitting problems are due to the absence of power, I would suggest seeing a hitting coach that taught rotational hitting. You should post a video of your swing and ask for comments. I believe that a lot of high school coaches look at how fast you can run and how much ground you can cover in deciding who to cut. This is because of the need to cover a lot of ground on the big field especially for outfields without a fence. Exception to this is a pitcher with a live fast ball(80 for JV) or catchers.
Where in GA do you live? There aren't many choices during the HS season for players over the age of 14. Plenty for 14 year olds, but you'll need to tryout quickly. Most have had their teams picked and practicing since early fall. Narrow down the geography and maybe we can give you some suggestions. Meantime, work on your own. If you can arrange private coaching to improve weak areas, that would also be helpful. There's always next year for the school team--and fall ball.
Try www.nwgabaseball.org. Go to the discussion forum and you will see teams who are looking for additional players. They also post open tryouts or teams looking for additional players for individual tournaments. It is a non-profit organization of teams that play each other and are located primarily in the northwest georgia/atlanta area. One of our local middle schools does not have a school baseball team and instead most of the kids play through this organization to prepare for high school ball which is how I became familiar with it. It may not be close enough to where you live but thought you might want to check it out. Good luck!
