We keep a number of charts throughout the game so that we can have accurate scouting reports.

In short, you shouldn't have your catcher signal back to the dugout...the guys who are charting should pay attention. The pitch location can easily be determined by watching the catcher set up and how he catches it. The pitches should be easy to pick up, but can get tricky if the pitcher throws 2 different breaking balls. Fastballs, breaking balls, and changeups are all a lot different so should be easy to chart.

If your charts aren't accurate it's because the guys you have keeping them aren't paying attention...that is true all the way up through the minor leagues.
