Reason for asking is that I was having a discussion about the new roster sizes and shortened season,(more games per week) for DI. It was my proposition that there were significantly more pitchs thrown in a college game than in a Low A game. Thus adding to the number of pitchers needed. I maintain that it is because of the aluminum bats that the pitch counts are higher.

Some have suggested that if the minors can play with 25 man rosters than colleges should be able to survive with 35. I would counter that with there are probably more pitchs thrown per inning in the college game and if pitchers get hurt in the minor league they go get more from rookie ball.

deldad you are correct for those reasons. Somebody gets nicked in proball he rehabs or and goes to extended and is replaced. Metal bats make a difference but they aren't the biggest reason, imo.

I would also offer that everybody in proball is really good. There is more depth, even with shorter rosters.
