Okay--need help. HS game tonight--son's bat -2011 Louisville H2--was ruled "illegal" because barrel is "scandium" and not aluminum. BTW, he has already played 5 games where bat was allowed. Can anybody direct me to a simple rule that shows this bat is allowed. I have found the NHSF list of approved BESR bats, but worried that " blue" will not understand the various model numbers that are used there. (and no offense to any of the "blues" that might review or respond here) Thanks.

First the CB11H2 is on the approved list...

Now with that being said...

Did your coach have the list with him? If he had the list he could have challenged the bat was legal... it IS on the Master list of approved bats. The list has 1600+ bats on it.

In our District that covers the FT. Worth area, all the coaches were instructed to have the list available and if not the decision of the umpire stands. We are trying our best to make sure we do not throw out legal bat but NFHS, UIL and TASO have really not laid down the law with regards on how best to handle these situations... Have your coach carry the list.

Coach did not have list, but he does now! (Indexed and everything). the crew last night, according to my son, had of list of 11 bats, and they said if the bat is not on that list, then not legal to use. They did toss bats from both sides though. The kids had had enough though, and they started pulling wood bats out and asked if they were illegal too since they were not on the ump's list.

At least tourney and not district play. And realistically, from watching balls hit, bats would not have made any difference (except maybe in kids minds.)
