Congrats to the multiple-time Cy YOung award winner on his terrific start.

84 mph tops and mostly between 79-82.

So much for "advance scouts".

Was switching between the Sox game and the Cubs game. Sox get Moyer tomorrow night and he's slower than Maddux.

Cards are going nowhere, bird fans. Three players and a bunch of hamburgers.

Houston should win that division.

Go White Sox.

Let's see, would those three players be Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds? No, that would make Molina & Eckstein "hamburgers", let alone Miles who has been doing a heck of a job.

I know Edmonds, despite his current performance, can't be a hamburger, as he's generally considered a hot dog. And Encarnacion can't be a hamburger; I like hamurgers, for one thing, and I do tend to think of him more as a LOBster....

Well, I'm just going to go crazy and wait for more than three weeks of the season to decide who is going where. Should current indications hold, Atlanta and the Yankees will then be sinking with us.

And I would think any Cards-Cubs hamburger discussion should include the hamburger Baker usually makes out of his Prime Beef pitchers. Wink

Great observation...perhaps this wonderful characteristic of his is in large part a reason for his continued success? It says much about the man and his approach to the team concept. I can only imagine that he gets alot of support from his teammates in return...and that can't be bad for a pitcher.

Conversely, I've noticed that when things don't go right for him he shoulders the blame himself...where it belongs... an incredibly classy guy...I tip my White Sox cap to him.

Guys like Maddux are good for the game...beyond description.

I am always amazed at the movement Maddux gets on his pitches ... it is almost mystical when you see it from the centerfield camera where you see the back of Maddux and watch that ball go from way inside to across the plate with the batter watching in disbelief. He is an amazing pitcher and altho I understand he can throw heat, his finesse of the pitches is hall of fame quality.
