This is a really good thread. OldCob, right on the money with your info on Stanford. When some schools call their players student/athletes I have to laugh. The statement student/athlete is accurate when referring to Stanford University though. A terrific school.

Stanford is a good program, but make sure you know their GPA / SAT requirements. They have chart and will tell a player based on their GPA what SAT score will open the door so they can "be recruited" by Stanford, if the SAT falls short the recruiting stops. FYI
my dad said the same thing, but i've already talked to two ivy league coaches and they both said i have the scores. everyone is telling me to check out stanford so now i have a good reason to head west...
I'm really excited for all of you guys! I remember these feelings as a dad 5 years ago and its a GREAT feeling!
More than anything, please make sure to enjoy yourself when you're there...don't put too much pressure on yourself...just play your game.
And make sure you leave a little time to visit things in the area (San Francisco, Monterey, wine country, etc...).

Does anyone know if this camp is condusive to parents watching the daily events or is it a drop 'em off and pick 'em up type camp?

Yes. Go if you can! It was a quiet, showcase-type crowd when we went to the Stanford camp several years ago. But there were many parents and spectators at each game and all were welcome! We live close enough that we were able to drive down and catch several games when son attended. There are a number hotels nearby for the out of town traveler.

It is absolutely a parent-friendly camp. Large crowds at the evening games at sunken diamond (snack bar, etc) and lots of people traveled to the off-campus games. We stayed and watched the SPARQ testing and a bit of the skills stuff. It's a great baseball atmosphere.
As for meeting fellow HSBBWebbers, this is where I met one of my first contacts from the website..ended up standing right next to her and we started talking about kids, baseball and, of course, the website..which everybody who's anybody knows about..LOL. I hope you all get some nice weather. The night games at sunken diamond on a warm evening are great!!

Anyone from the Seattle area going to the camp?
The e-mails said they'd mail out an information packet the first week in April. I noticed that they cashed my check but we haven't gotten the info package yet. Anyone gotten that package so far?
CADad, I had forgotten about those notices, but we have not received anything more either. Looks like it's another mailbox watch.
received my packet via email, not snail mail, today. can't wait to see everyone in nocal!
Which brings up the question of roomate requests?
mr. cadad - look on pg4 of the packet; you have to submit your rommate request by 05/15.
The list of schools sending team coaches was interesting. There were a lot of quality academic schools with decent baseball programs at various levels on the list as well as some JCs who are probably looking to get kids who aren't ready for Stanford yet but want to keep that option open. The reality is that we're trying to get CASon in front of those quality academic schools as Stanford, despite being his first choice, is quite a longshot for him.
i saw jason ronai was on the school list representing the US Naval Academy. if the other coaches are anything like coach ronai, we are going to learn alot at this camp.
