does anyone associated with the white sox know if they are competing in this year's Mariner cup?

That would be true. I'm not 100% sure, but the 8-10 of August would be the time frame I am hearing. Should be right after the Area Code games like last year. It will be a true tournament play unlike playing full 9 inning games regardless of the score.
