Sweeney hit #151 last night, passing Manny Mota and into sole possession of 2nd place all time behind Lenny Harris (212).
Great guy by all accounts, and he handled the Bonds incident with true poise. He'll also be remembered for being a class guy and a great role player. I hope he gets a chance to play for a contender down the stretch and get that ring that he so deserves.

Sorry, I thought the announcer said he tied Mota. Still a really cool accomplishment. That was my point, great accomplishment, good guy and Bonds will steal his thunder. I wonder what his teammates think of this chase, if you ask them honestly?
Had a chance to meet Mark Sweeney at a high school baseball benefit dinner of about 300 people this past spring. He provided a great motivational speech on overcoming obstacles through hard work and determination. Very similar to Coach May’s post, "It’s not where you start." A true gentleman and a class act.
Sweeney had yet another big pinch hit last night, an RBI double off of Marlins closer Kevin Gregg to tie the game in the 9th and spark a come from behind rally.
I liked Sweeney's quote when ask if he could catch Len Harris, he said, "as long as someone gives me a shot to play I will be around."
