Mauer signs!!!

Good for the Twins. I think the new stadium allows them to do this and it will allow them to add players. Without the stadium, none of this would have been possible imho. I saw the stadium fuel the Indians growth in the mid-90's but all good things end eventually.

Great news for the Twins and all of baseball!

This shows that if you're willing to settle for less than top dollar you can still be well compensated yet be at a place where you are happy and loved. Smart young man!

i read somewhere the Mr. Polad was the richest owner in baseball. they would have had a stadium a lot sooner but............he bought a rap station in milwaukee. go figure.

I just hope this deal doesn't do to Minnesota what the A-Rod deal did to Texas -- i.e., exhaust their budget to the point that they end up a last place team with one great star.

Mauer will be 35 at the end of this deal. Not many catchers have proved that durable. $23m/year is a lot to lock up on a very vulnerable position guy.

Great news for Mauer, just not sure it's great long term news for the Twins.
