Yeah man, it was tough. Got to hand it to Plano...they never gave up and put together a rally for the ages to come back from a 5-0 deficit in the top of the 7th to win 9-5. SLC made uncharacteristic mistakes in the field with 3 errors in the inning, a couple of walks (1 intentional) and 4 timely hits plated 9 in the inning. I think SLC has only given up 9 runs in a game twice this year. I hope the boys can get their heads on straight a come back out to compete (maybe tonight or 2 tomorrow). We'll find out a lot about the Dragons in the next two games (hopefully) and whether they have the strong team bond (including coaches) that will be required to recover from last night.

HEY - what's a Chili Mart?

Kid said he saw you last night. By the time I made it over there, you were gone. Did you leave? If you did... You missed a wild one. great game. Two great teams. One lllooonnnggg A.S.S.game. HP hitters keep stepping outta the box. Wakeland pitcher takes a small walk every time they step back in the box. Umpire that takes 5 seconds on every pitch to call a ball or strike.

Which makes we want to ask umpires this question:
Do umpires think they need to add drama to the game by waiting so long to call balls and strikes? What's up with that? Just so you umpires know, that practice is G*A*Y. You were more aggrivating than the kid with the drum.

Anyway, other than the annoying officiating, it was a great game. One of the best I've gotten to see even if it took over three hours. There may have only been two balls that weren't hit hard by both sides last night. Great lineups from top to bottom.
Neither of these teams are going to lay down. Both have confident players that will give pitchers fits. They battle.
Congrats to Plano and good luck in the next round.

The Dragons didn't take advantage of early opportunities leaving 9 men on base thru the 1st 4 innings...including a situation in the 3rd inning where SLC had the bases loaded with no outs and a deep fly ball landed at the base of the wall. Only the runner on 3rd scored as the other runners went halfway thinking the ball could possibly be caught. The batter passed the runner on 1st base on the basepaths and was called out, so instead of still having bases loaded with no outs there were runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and Plano got out of the inning with no further damage.

Plano took advantage of SLC miscues again today. 2 of their 3 runs were unearned. It was a dissappointing end to an otherwise very good season for the Dragons which included a district championship. Thanks for a fun ride guys.

Poteet sweeps a very good Texarkana Texas High team today with a 4-2 win.
WP - Griffin 10 K's
HR - Young

Also heard that Waxahachie swept Hallsville.

**sarcasm**
That weak 15-4A district still has 2 teams in the playoffs. Probably those weak East Texas teams they've been playing though!
**sarcasm**

Well J4B, you are right. This cant be a weak district after all.
1.The team that ended Poteet's distiguished record (59-1) is still in it.
2.Poteet keeps on going with apparently only 2 players that are any good, since they're the only ones that ever get recognition from you.
3.And Young comes from who knows where Doe has been hiding him to be your Ace pitcher. He wasn't on varsity last year, I was at all the games. That kid truly needs be recognized by this district, he has had an incredible season. Where is he headed next year?

SourGrapes...I mean PHS Fan

Since those 2 guys pitch every other game, you will see me mention them more than any other player. I've said before(and not necessarily on this board), Poteet has gotten to where they are because of a STRONG TEAM effort. Those guys depend on their defense to make plays behind them. I too was at all the varsity games last year and no, Young was not on varsity for who knows what reason. I'm sure Young along with several other Poteet players will be recognized by the district this season as they have ALL exceeded expectations. If you read the paper last week you would have seen that Young was the player of the week. For him to be recognized for his accomplishments is great for him individually, for Poteet, and for the TEAM. These boys have really come together this season more than any other I have seen in the numerous years I've been watching Poteet play. I hope the TEAM continues it's success, but if it all ended today, these boys will truely remember the bond that they have shared this season along with the hard work and dedication that they have shown one another.

P.S. If you read the paper (because they mention it in the paper every time they mention these two players), Young will be rooming with Griffin at Navarro JC!!!

Continue to Stay Positive PHS FAN!!!!
well now Jewels, you just misunderstand. It aint sour grapes at all, I am truly thrilled that Young is getting recognition for his achievements. He is a great kid and comes from a great family. Just imagine if he had been utilized last year how great he could be?? shoulda woulda coulda, right? I do worry that he and Griffin are pitching 130+ pitches a game and that no other pitchers, as you said, are being used. That kind of wear and tear can't be good on those arms. But, if the parents and coaches arent concerned then I guess it's not a big deal. I dont think state is a one or two game series, so that lack of pitching depth could be a hurdle.
And as far as a team effort, you obviously know the details of the game, occasionally mention someone else, I mean there are 7 other players out there, right? They can't be the only guys making big plays and there is more to the game than pitching, isnt there? For those of us who cant make the games this is a way to stay in the know. It isnt all about your kid all the time (assuming one of these is yours)
Good Luck against Frisco this week, another strong team from a strong district.

I'm really not going to get into a petty argument with you about who is mentioned and who isn't on this message board. If you really wanna follow the game, SHOW UP or read the paper. I'm not giving a play by play on here. I don't think I said "no other pitchers" are being used. When you play a 3 game series and only go 2 games, those guys have been the only 2 to pitch. Other pitchers have been used through out the season.
If you notice, most of my posts are score and WP. I believe a HR is worth mentioning as well. I'm pretty sure if you read my post I said "Those guys depend on their defense to make plays behind them." Meaning, there are 8 other players on the field and everyone has to contribute in some way defensively and offensively.

Again...Stay Positive!!!

GO PIRATES!!!

No dog in the fight.. but since 1 game who will throw for Poteet? the #1 or #2? I think you have to go with a crafty lefty like young because of how Wakeland hits the ball and some of their beast hitters are on the left side... JMHO...

Whoa Beast! I haven't seen many pitchers Wakeland can't hit. With that said, I've not seen any of Poteet's arms, but I wouldn't bet against Wakeland's lineup. And it's crazy to suggest that Coach Rose will be "out-coached."
