McKinney N. vs. Wakeland Fri. 4-30?

I bet the loser plays Sherman for the 4th playoff spot.....

I believe Wakeland will get revenge from MNHS "play-in" game last year. (But then again, North may have the best 1 game coach in 4A) Should be the only BIG matchup in 9-4A this week.

Have no clue vs Wakeland last year, but I'm not giving him credit for having Matt Lackie throw 2 gems against MHS the previous two years. I could have coached North with Lackie chunking.

So how did he lose to Nacogdoches with Appleby, Lackie and Steed????

ok, i take it all back. he is a horrible coach and i'm sure wakeland will take it to 'em friday night.

how about a different question: what happens if there is a play-in game for 4th place and it is rained out saturday and monday, would they play it or flip a coin? (rain is forcast throughout the weekend is why i ask)

Go look at all of my posts, ever, I never said he was a bad coach. I just get a kick out of everyone thinking because he was a college assistant he has more knowledge than all other high school coaches.

Not to mention, the world is a better place when MHS and MNHS don't like each other.

I wasn't trying to say you think he is a bad coach but I also don't think he is a good coach because he coached in college.

Hard to not think he is pretty good at what he does after last year. I didn't think they had a chance to even get into the playoffs much less beat Rockwall in the first round. They made it all the way to Texas High and actually beat them in the first game too.

I agree with you, it is always good to have a crosstown rival. It's also good to sweep 'em two years in a row too! (Last year was the first)

what is the tie breaker scenerio for this district? If Wakeland, Sherman and Centennial win, Wakeland and Centennial are tied for second (after splitting their season series), and North and Sherman are tied for fourth (after splitting their season series).

Well, in the past they have played one game to determine seeding or fourth place on Saturday after the last game. I haven't heard this year, maybe some of the Sherman, Wakeland or Centennial folks have heard.

If Centennial wins, they play a tie breaker against the winner of the North / Wakeland game for second place.

If Centennial loses, the winner of the North / Wakeland game gets second; then Centennial, North / Wakeland loser, and Sherman battle for the 3 and 4 spots. (assuming Sherman beats Denison)

In this scenario wouldn't Centennial get third by way of the sweep over Sherman and then Sherman and the wake/north loser would play for fourth place.

Robert S. Why can't you get over the fact that Gatewood took a team not as talented as the MHS team that your son played on and beat them. Give the man credit for what he has done at NORTH. I guess you could have "coached" the MHS team last season that had Lee and Lipka on it and lost to HP two in a row??

Dang that was rough. And what happens if MHS goes into the playoffs and under performs again?

To emn12012's point, it seems like Centennial should get the 3rd seed and there would be a play-in game for 4th. I'd a lot rather see a play-in game to determine whom gets in the playoffs than a game to decide seed while a team gets excluded based on a coin flip.

That is fine if you think he is a turd. Coaches can't please everyone. I wish you would just say that instead of saying the only reason people think he is a good coach is because he coached in college. Many parents think they know more than coaches and could do better than the coach. That comes with the territory.

You may have never came out and said "Jim Gatewood is a bad coach." Most of your comments are negative about his coaching. Example: I could have coached that team and won or Gatewood ... give me a break. Gatewood has had as much success as anyone since he has been at North. Look at all the other sports at North, how many of them are winning. Gatewood does more with less.

Robert S. not Blah Blah Blah. It has to do with you not giving credit to Gatewood because he had Lackie. I guess you think other teams don't have talent! Look at Sherman their pitching staff ranks right behind MHS. On paper, Sherman's overall team maybe better than MHS and they may not even get in the playoffs. You give no credit because you say Gatewood has had all this talent. Ask Coach Price about last year's talent or your son about how much talent they had or Sherman about this year. All I am saying is that you can have great talent and fall short of what you want to accomplish. You need a good coach to lead that talent!
