Has anyone heard a nything about the world series in McKinney this year? Haven't heard or seen much on it.

Just haven't heard much. Not much of a buzz anywhere.............papers,online news, nothing.
Probably will be more buzz once the state and regionals are over and we know who will be in ..
I understand that, P1, but usually there is a bunch of activity already. You can't put that thing together in a week. That's a lot of work.
PM Mickey Mantle World Series and he'll put you to work. He has people working that thing year round. Lot's of behind the scene stuff going on right now including getting the funding necessary to run the show. Once the teams are set, things will pick up on the outside.
They would love to have volunteers! I organized the volunteers last year and I had absolutely NO IDEA how much work goes into putting that tournament on. It's so much more than hiring umps and getting the field ready.
Call them...you can sell tickets, t-shirts, clean-up after games, guard the gate, fetch foul balls, clean the stands, hang the banners, and on and on and on...

Honestly, we came very close to cancelling the tournament this year due to lack of funds and volunteers. We are very fortunate that we had some individuals step up at the last moment to make some donations. Those people deserve a huge hand.
We need volunteers to work the ticket boothe, souvenirs, and watch the gate. Cleanup crews are needed for after the games. It's pretty much a given that the volunteer spots that fill up the fastest are the ones helping Joe Day in his bar-b-q shack.
We also need to hang banners and other stuff.
