I think there are plenty of drop and drive guys still out there. Maybe not as pronounced as Seaver who literally got his knee dirty. The vid of Seaver on the right reminds me a little of Lincecum.

Seaver was a great baseball historian. He also was a big believer in pitching to contact. He would say "I'm paid to get outs. Sometimes I strike them out. I'd rather get them out on one pitch". That's coming from a guy with a 95 MPH fastball.

I don't think he was using his leg drive and pushing for stability. He was creating energy with his back side along with a good load on his front side. No balance point but dynamic balance down the hill. Definitely not a tall and fall guy.
Looking at his landing to release from the side....WOW.

You can see why you need to have strong legs to pitch!

Also look at his trunk rotation!

Long ago a pitching instructor told my son that the key to a lively FB was getting out over his landing foot and getting his trunk to rotate aggressivly toward the plate. Perfect example. Thanks for the video Steve.
