I am a 2015 LHP with a question about mechanics possibly taking away from velocity. Last fall, I was sitting 80-81 and topping at 84. So far this spring in my 3 outings, I am cruising 82-84 so I have seen some increase. My mechanics are fluent and I am a pitcher who throws across the body. Can something like throwing across your body limit velocity increase? I have always thrown this way and have always seen increase in velocity.

A little bit over or not usually doesn't cause a problem in it of itself but if it's to the point where it's blocking your hips from rotating all the way through or what have you then it can be detrimental.

Edited: And you could still see increases in velocity but you may not reach your full potential, just like I could goof around bench pressing and still see increases in weight but not reach my full potential because of that.
