Does the head baseball coach usually want to see a player before an offer is made? Or do they use the evaluation from the recruiter?

It completely depends on the coach and program. There are coaches out there that have trusted folks who scout for them or will rely on their recruiting coach only. There are other head coaches who will not make an offer if they haven't watched the player themselves. Typically a coach will tell you where his thoughts are on this subject and if he hasn't seen enough of your player (meaning he wants to schedule to watch your son himself).
Having a head coach evaluate you (and like your skills) can be a real plus, as the head coach is usually the one who determines playing time.
