igball - Thats really great! Congrats (in advance).

Things have changed, so I could be off base on this. But 5-6 years ago, top pitchers and/or legit middle infielders (remember that nearly every infielder on a college team played SS in HS) would get over 50%. The very top pitchers (i.e. top recruit at a school) would get 75+%. It may have changed?

Questions to ask...some they will answer before you even ask (other than being rude, there are no questions to avoid IMO):

* Are they recruiting him as an RHP or MIF? If both, how will they make that work?
* What do they see as your son's strengths and weaknesses?
* Who else (or how many others) are they recruiting in this year's class?
* What is their policy/practice on renewing scholarships? (I asked this question of every coach 6 years ago...and they all answered).
* What is the nature and resources for academic support?
* What are the majors of the players currently on the team?
* What role do they see for your son as a freshman?
* Where did they see your son play? What caught their eye?

Good luck! Wink
MIF positions typically don't mesh well with being a pitcher also. Yes, it happens, but not that often. Make sure you know which role they are recruiting your son for, and then make sure that's what he wants. If he has his heart set on SS and they want him as RHP ...

If this happens to be for a team near and dear to my heart, feel free to PM me.
igball,
Take a look at their roster, but I agree with Midlo, these two don't go together on the college level.
The offer amount will be dependent upon what position they are recruiting him for, pitchers usually get more than position players or they could give him MIF $$ and then use him as a pitcher, that happens.

Best of luck, was wondering how things were progressing.

recruited position is ss but is a solid pitcher throwing 88-89 this summer. i agree that two way player at college level from mif is rare and difficult.

tpm not your son's alma mater but close friend of my son should be committing there soon as rhp and summer team mate from last year's team will be rhp there this fall.
