I went there for the NABF world classic 5 years back, there's stuff to do you just have to find it. But make sure you go to Burban street, and grab something to eat and theres some stuff to look at. Also elvis house and all his stuff is on for tours. There's also some go-cart place somewhere down there,so pretty much we spent a whole evening there tearing it up lol but trust me there is far worst plcaes ive been with nothing to do,like Nashville,TN and Waterbury,CT and Wheeling,WV(florida was the best though). But there is some things to do.
Lets see: Memphis the "bluff city".

Take in a pro ball game: The AAA Memphis Redbirds, the affiliate of the Cardinals at Auto Zone Park located in the heart of downtown Memphis.
Old' Man River. Lots of things to do around the river. Eating establishments galore -- River Boat rides ---Music on Beale Street -- Mud Island. Or you can just stop on a warm evening on the bluff and watch the barges as they drift their way to New Orleans or push on to St. Louis. Bring your camera --- the sunsets are beautiful.
Shopping out east: Wolfchase Galleria for her --- Bass Pro shop for him.
Graceland (The home of Elvis Presley)
If you live in the fast lane there is the Memphis Motor Sports --- If you're thinking of the future there are churches everywhere --- Down the road is Tunica, Mississippi, home to many casinos which mixes the quaintness of the cotton fields and the Mississippi River with the glitz and glitter of riverboat gambling.
Spend a night at the Peabody in downtown Memphis. Think back to the early years when cotton was king and the high rollers stayed at the best the south had to offer (the Peabody) then look to the left and enjoy the ducks as they stroll out of the hotel's elevator walk down the red carpet and swim in the fountain in the lobby.
Take a side trip up the road to my home Jackson TN: Read the stories of Casey Jones and enjoy a southern meal of BAR-B-Q and hoe cakes at Casey Jones Village. A place where the small shops cater to the visitors and the restaurant caters to the hungry. Jackson is home of Carl Perkins and his "blue Suede Shoes and Ed "Too Tall" Jones of the Dallas Cowboys fame. Tennessee and Memphis have a lot to offer. But really --- the best thing we have to offer is not on a map but in our way of life and the people you meet while you're here. Enjoy yourself.
Fungo
Fungo is right, the people are the BEST.

The Fender guitar plant has tours to take, make advance reservations. It is pretty cool to see how they are made.

Stax records is fun to check out (think Cash, R+B).

You can see the ducks with/out staying at the Peabody (pretty pricey).

Peabody Place has an arcade, blacklight bowling (or mini golf??)and a multi-plex movie theater.

I think that Beale St. is not open to minors at night.

The Civil Rights Museum, at the Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed, is very moving and eye opening for kids too young to remember the Civil Rights Era. They have retained the room he was staying in and you can see the balcony that he was on. I would set aside a good couple of hours to see it - really worth the time.

Although they are are a tourists must do, unless you feel that you must, I would stay away from Rendezvous, Corky's, and others of the famous shops. Although, I've heard that B B Kings is good for ribs. I like pulled pork, and the best I've found is at a small local place called the Bar-B-Q Shop. I don't mean to start a Bar-B-Q war here - there are a lot of good shops and the famous ones are fun - if only to say that you've been there.

Hi Woody,

That's the one! They don't throw the plates across the table, so it is not quite as fun. Wink

I'm going down for the March 7,8,9th weekend. Hubby should be going down sometime soon. Even though our guy is not playing (might be able to get back toward the end of March), we want to support the team. clapping With our other guy not released to play until this summer, we are going through some serious baseball withdrawal.

Let us know the next time you are going to be down and we can try to coordinate. The pigs don't really dance, but the sandwiches sure do sing (I think that they even have fried bologna Bar-B-Q!).

Been thinking about Woody and PlayBaseball and saplings and sending good thoughts. It would be great to visit in person.
