I've seen Chris and to be honest, like him better as a hitter at this point. He has a lot of potential at the plate. Haven't seen him near 85-86 on the mound, but he is a good 2010 LHP...and not to mention seems like a great kid! Hopefully you guys will get the deal with Forney worked out, and Chris will be eligbile. I think he could help Coach Doe's squad this year in some facet.

Just out of curiousity, but who invited him to the Area Code tryout?

And hopefully hes got some upside, he has been invited to the Area code tryouts and has had some serious intrest already from UC Irvine, Houston, New Mexico, Alabama, and stanford.

We would really like to hear from Texas and Rice

I'm really curious to hear if anyone has seen him play.

I hope you have better luck at Poteet than Forney did last year trying to get Vance Woodruff eligible after moving there from Cali. He had to pitch his Jr. year on the JV because of eligibility issues from what I understand.
Since Poteet and Forney are in the same district, good luck getting that PAP back.

Just curious, did the family move to Poteet's attendance zone?

Also have to be careful how you answer certain questions on the PAP. Some answers are RED FLAGS that the district executive committee will have to investigate. Just because you physically move does not mean you become eligible. If that DEC thinks you moved for "athletic purposes" they will rule you ineligible. The burden of proof lies with the family to prove they DID NOT move for "athletic purposes."

These things can get nasty. Don't think for a minute that the DEC won't let this kid play just to keep Poteet from getting stronger.
I don't think it would be a bad thing for him to play JV under Coach Doe. I don't know the whole story but I also believe that the Forney coach has done a lot for his kids. In any case, the key issue is finding a place where these guys can develop. You don't commit to college and you're not drafted after your SO season, eh?
I could be wrong but its my understanding that freshmen and sophomores don't get invited to a largely senior event like area code. The best sophomore in our district is probably Drew Benefield and he wasn't invited and is a known quantity.

I haven't ever really heard of major colleges much less small venues interested in anything but juniors moving to seniors or seniors graduating.

Now standard form letters from being in a database? Got a whole drawer full, thats a different story.
I assumed he meant last season since he was "invited" which seemed a little off to me. But thanks for the clarifications.

There are many sophs that are very good that didn't get an invite. Of course I guess you would need to be on the varsity somewhere to get one. I don't think Teddy Nowell or Files got one as a sophomore, but I could be wrong on that. If they didn't I can't see someone getting an invite not starting at the varsity level. Was Chris in the rotation at Forney at the varsity level last season?
