An exciting week for Midlo baseball. 3 tight wins. Beat Manchester 4-3, Beat Bird by scoring 5 runs T7, and 2 runs T8 to come from behind and win 8-6. Had to go to B7 to beat Clover Hill on a walk off hit. 10-4 and 2nd in the District behind Hanover. This team gets good pitching, plays very good defense and hits well. Not sure Midlo can take out Hanover, but this team will likely make noise in the playoffs.

It's great to see that program rallying from some down years.  The most encouraging thing is that they seem to have several sophomores making strong contributions including Thomas Rysedorph and Matthew Franklin on the mound.  That would suggest this is not a one-year thing, but maybe grounds for hope of more improvement to come in the next few years.

On the other hand, playoff runs can end quickly depending on luck of the draw with your opponent (and their pitcher).  If you get Hanover early, I don't like your chances.  If you don't see them until the championship game, would that mean you could lose that one and still get a 4A South regional berth?  It'd be great for those young guys to get that experience under their belts this year.

I'd say they will be just as good if not better next year. Graduating 2-3 starters this year shows the youth in the program. The transfers; CJ and Scott; from Tabb and Benedictine helped this year's depth, one is a Jr, the other is a sophmore. Grant Keller, sophmore is a stud at third with D1 talent, Fuller,a junior; returns as SS and lead off still around for next year.

Moore, Franklin, Rysedorph, Boggio, Carter, Reimann, and Friedman all will be around to throw next year on the hump.

Coming up from JV next year is Hull, one of the fastest kids I've seen. Tyler Fitz-like speed. Homered against Clover Hill and had an inside the park homer on a bobbled ball in the outfield. Saw him score on a over thrown pick move to first.

Fun to watch over the coming weeks and next couple of years.

Midlo update

Beat Monacan 11-0 first round of playoffs. Boggio complete game shut out, 1 to 2 hits depending how you scored it.

Beat Glen Allen 3 to 1 - Matt Franklin compete game allowing 2 hits. Hall from GA equally as good. Midlo was able to move runners and manufacture runs, which was the difference in the game

Lost To Hanover - Steven Reinmann a seldom used JR pitcher handled the situation well and kept Hanover off balance for 5 innings. Hanover pitching was equal to the task.  Midlo needed a few hits with RISP but didn't produce. Out hit Hanover but just wasn't enough.

Next Game at Grafton, Monday at 4:30
