I am a skilled and athletic infielder who's primary position is SS. My only problem is Turning the double play. It's not noticeable to others it's just the way I feel and my comfort level from the time I receive the ball to my footwork... to my throw...

I position my self by coming in in a Set position a step before the bag and step towards the ball with my Left foot and recieve it.., As I do this my right foot follows and glides across the bag, and without putting it down, step towards first base with it... my Right foot is across my Left, lastly I step and bring my Left foot over towards my target and uncross my legs and throw...

For some reason i just feel so uncomfortable because it feels like i can never get enough on my throws... am i doing anything wrong?

Thanks

Are you using the momentum that you can be generating with your entire body as you complete the DP? Your throw should have your entire body's momentum behind it.

You may be too tall and not using your legs properly. Make sure that you are always in an athletic position and not standing up. If you are too tall you will be all arm. Learn to use your whole body to generate the power required to complete your throw. Learn to dance.

Follow your throw with your body, you might even spin after you release the ball to generate the momentum you need.
