I'm with Gomo....where did the $600 come from? You can buy one DVD or a package. Watching the recent HR derby the common denomintor was the ability to turn / " rotate" into the ball. Mike works almost exclusively on this process and gives great explanations of how and why.

I sent one to a 10th grader on my sons team two years ago who was at about .180. He did the drills and lead the team as a junior .380

Don't waste valuable practice time and a full year playing without learning all you can...you will regret it.

Are you referring to the DVDs, or to private instruction with Mike or one of his certified instructors? If it's the former, then $600 is way too high. If it's personal instruction, that number may be right for a week or two of hands on training.

baseballkid, You can buy his book for $24.95. You can buy his 2 1/2 hour DVD for $49.95. That is a long way from $600. You might just inform your instructor that he is wrong on his price quote.

I think his book is outstanding. Not sure if a kid would be as into it, but I can read it over and over and still not get enough. Only problem with the book is that he only refers to his drills, and doesn't actually show/explain them. You gotta get the dvd for that.

Sorry about the cofusion. The $600 I was referring to was work with the instructor that included a video breakdown of my swing and several lessons.

I have heard about the DVD and CD-Rom. Are they easy to understand and would I, as a 15 year old be able to comprehend them?

I have the cd-rom. I'll be honest and say I'm not really happy with the layout of it. it basically only works on my pc (its not the dvd), and its very wordy and technical.

I'd consider the dvd first.

My impression from having reviewed the tapes is that Epstein puts forth a pretty good system but that it would be very easy for a young man to develop bad habits trying to learn from just looking at the tapes.

If you are serious about going with that system then I'd say go ahead and spend your parents money on the in person lessons. I'd also recommend only going to Mike himself or possibly his son as I'd be concerned about the teaching ability of the certified instructors. JMO.

I live in new england so i don't know if it would be possible to learn directly from Mike Epstein. Do you think it would work if I learned the system from the CD-rom and did a few lessons with the instructor to check if I was making good progress?

my dad is started teaching me that tecnique about 2 months ago, and now that i have got it down i can see a great increase in my hitting...... why would you have to pay 600$ to learn the tecnique...... as far as i know my dad got it for free.....

I would get the dvd before I got the cd-rom. these things are very visual, and the cd-rom isn't very visual (at least not enough)

Sorry, I just don't know enough to say. You'll have to decide how capable the instructor is. If you meet and trust the instructor then it would probably make sense.
