Put another entry into the “small world” file...

I made the trip to Florida to watch my son's team play their opening series in the Florida State League. Tonight as I was walking into the game from the parking lot, I heard the announcer introducing the starting lineups. I was half listening but then I heard… "starting at second base, Tyler Bortnick" and I was thinking... that names sounds familiar, then continued on without thinking anything more about it.

Now, my memory isn't as good as it used to be so as many times as I have seen pictures and read comments about Tyler, I still didn't put two and two together. Then it hit me.... that's ClevelandDads son! My interest in the game went to a whole new level. I was as excited to watch Tyler play as I would be watching one of my own boys. Watching him play is a treat… think Lenny Dykstra, however at second base.

Tyler had a very nice opening night, both at the plate and in the field. It was so cool to actually get so see someone I have been following on the website for years.

Now, come Saturday (my son has to face Tyler) I may not be quite as a big of a fan if he has another good night at the plate. Wink

jerseyddad - that was an awfully nice thing for you to post! His college coach once compared him to Lenny Dykstra so that is a huge honor that you said that.

I hope only the best for Quinton and even when he plays my son. That is the best way to ensure good karma flows in both directions. Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes it eats you. It's all good - eventually.
