The tournament this weekend in Mineola/Lindale had some of the best 17-18 year old talent that I've seen. Every game I saw there was good competition from every team. We will be doing it again in July. Thanks to the Lindale parents who help out and also to Lindale High School where the 17-18 year olds played most. There were six to seven college scouts in the stands.

Maybe your son was on the Lindale pitching staff? The three best pitching staffs I saw were Lindale, Marshall, and Tyler Lee. My son played with the Marshall team and lost to Tyler Lee 2-1 and tied with Lindale 3-3. So yeah I would say that between all three teams not alot of runs were scored and all the pitchers did an excellent job. In fact, the pitching was very impressive.

I do agree that the Lindale folks did a great job on their part of the tournament. The field was in excellent condition. Since this was not really a "tournament" but more of a showcase type of event the 2 hour drop dead rule was great - we actually knew what time to be at the fields and we got home each night at a decent hour.

One question - how does Lindale High School get away with playing on such a small field? That is the most ridiculous size field I have ever seen. 350' to dead center and 300' down the lines (which I guarantee you that RF was NOT 300' but more like 280'). I would think that the UIL would have some kind of rule prohibiting playing high school games on a field like that. Pop flies to centerfield were potential home runs.

But it was a well run event and a credit to the folks at Lindale. Great competition too.

I've seen the Keller field and it's not much bigger!

Oh, come on....our field is HUGE... biglaugh You know, that big center field you could get lost in biglaugh and that dreaded south wind doesn't carry any of the balls out once it starts warming up biglaugh

Heck, look at my son, he's got sooooo many home runs hit at home....... biglaugh

Actually, I wish my son played on a larger field. One that he could use his speed a little more in the outfield, and one that when he did hit it to the gap, he could get some extra bases on. He has never, and will never hit for power. Even though he thinks he's Johnathan Edwards Junior.
