I think this is probably a wide spread problem.  A pitcher was removed from a D1 game a month or so ago for using a foreign substance.  Not sure what kind of penalty he received (or the team) beyond that game, because he pitched against our team 2 weeks later.

Our friend in the minors says that it is encouraged.  Curious the impact if they really start enforcing.

I don’t know how they can enforce this with the “testing of balls taken out of play” as described. Are they going to ban catchers from using pine tar on their bats?  Ban pitchers from using pine tar on their bat in the National League?   Not to mention the various sprays, Tiger Stick, etc...etc...  Every player in the clubhouse likely has traces of sticky substances on their hands which might transfer to the ball. How do they pinpoint the source of a substance that is ubiquitous in the game?

It’s a thing for sure, I have a cap from last season’s big league camp and it has a spot under the right side of the brim that is still sticky. I wore it last night while out with my wife and friends. Ran into a Mets fan.. they’re everywhere. Ha!

I'm a Mets fan but I can't wear their gear. My most used cap right now is from the Cyclones, the defending and final champion of the NY Penn league.  Much more classy.

Son and I have had this discussion. Interesting for him, he never uses anything. Says he cannot stand the way it makes his fingers feel. He doesn’t sweat a lot and has never really used rosin. Superstitious. He tried the rosin bag out a little in college. The last time he touched a rosin bag, he tore his UCL. He said he would NEVER touch a rosin bag again.  So selfishly, I hope they do crack down on this. It might give him an advantage. Haha. But I do think it is gonna be difficult to monitor and enforce because of the above-mentioned reasons.

We loved Brooklyn and that stadium. I have Ryley’s Brooklyn Seinclones jersey from one of their promotions in 2018.

Yeah, I love that ballpark too.  I also loved the Yankees Staten Island ballpark.  Great commute to get there from Manhattan and if there is a yard with a better view I have not seen it.  Too bad it didn't survive the MiLB shakeup.
