So its been a while since last posted, but have been a faithful lurker. We are in need of help, so i knew where to go!
So son, a rising college JR pitcher, had a good spring season, and a good summer season, making the CPL all star team. He is RHP , a closer and goes up to 95 but sits 92-93 plus slider according to the scouts. Even got a tweet shoutout from Kendall Rogers from PG recently, which son was most excited about!
Anyway, he got a letter from MLB scouting bureau recently asking for medical records eye tests and saying he would have to take some other tests for them. I am going to assume that this is a good sign for him, but does this offer any indicaton of perhaps being a higher round selection?
Also was contacted by several different agents in the past few weeks. With the new slotting system, I really only see a need if the possibilty exists to be a 1-10 round pick. Is that thinking correct? I would also be most interested to hear from those here what we should be looking for, and looking to avoid should we find that an advisor is needed. We just dont want to make a stupid mistake or fall into a bad situation, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

HighCheese, the Bureau and many clubs currently use questionnaires and try to get as much information done early on those players they may have a follow report in for their organization, therefore there is interest in your son. Advisors and scouts try and get their homework done diligently.

I am 100% sure I know who your son is and best of luck to you all this fall and next year. Good luck to Andrew.
I am not sure that the new draft rules eliminate the need for an agent.

You can more or less get an idea of where your son may fit in the draft by the agents contacting your son.

The draft is a long way off, the season has not even begun, I would tell your son to keep focused on the present.

As the draft comes closer things will begin to become more clear.

HighCheese, what TPM stated is the absolute truth, no need to worry about the extra stuff until next spring is in high gear.

Best of luck once again!
