No.
My son wishes they would eliminate the pitcher to first pickoff! 
The actual change is to require that feints to all bases, not just first, requires disengaging from the rubber. While this will effect the third to first move, it will also effect feints to second.

Please tell me this isn't because of Daniel Bard arguing whether or not he was faking to third! Besides, how many times does this play actually work?

It always works, as a reminder to the runner at first that if he steals on first move or top of leg-lift, he may get burned.

That's not the reason that two balks were called on Bard.
I know that the second one was clear. It was the first balk to which I was referring. (Okay. At least in Boston they were claiming that he stepped towards third before going towards first.)

And the arguement that lefty's can't attempt the same move without it being called a balk is ridiculous. The MLB guy making the noise is probably a lefty.
Lefty's have so much more of an advantage in other facets of the game. I'd rather see MLB put ALL of their resources into a workable instant replay system rather than spending time on something as ridiculous as this.quote:Originally posted by VaRHPmom:

Apparently those claiming that were listening to the announcers, who know even less about balks than pitchers. According to the calling umpires and the video, both balks were "started and stopped" balks. 8.05 (a)

The new rule will simply offer the same protection to runners at second and third that they enjoy at first in regards to feints.
