Wait, wild card are best of 3 now? I missed something.

Yes and the Mets will be watching the Yankees play in the ALDS on Tuesday as their season will be over.
Yup, new rules.
Yu Darvish is putting on a clinic tonight about how (and why) to change speeds. It’s a work of art and beautiful to watch. Every young pitcher can learn from his example.
Adbono
when he was a HS senior I watched Darvish pitch along with 20 American and Japan pro scouts. Viewed by 40,000 at the game and 35 million on TV.
Japan HS Spring Tournament in Osaka at koshien

Not sure if deGrom can save the season.
The reporting was more on Scherzer's failure than Darvish's success.
Some exciting games yesterday! I was busy so couldn't watch most of them, but even the ending of Mets-Padres came down to the wire.
For the Blue Jays to lose basically due to a wild pitch with 2 outs and 2 strikes, bases loaded - wow. If the pitcher had just made that one pitch...
Bush league move by Buck Showalter to stop the game and have the umpires search Joe Musgrove for foreign substances. Just because his team isn’t performing well tonight. Pure gamesmanship. After that piece of low class managing I’m all in for the Padres!
Andrew McCutchen commented on twitter about the ear check. Even though it's not a secret that guys have all sorts of tricks, it wasn't necessary.
I feel bad for my Met's fan friends. San Diego deserves all the credit for bringing in guys that could get it done.
No love for the Guardians? Sheeessssh... LOL!
@adbono posted:I might normally root for them if they would revert back to Indians. But I will be on their side when they play the Yankees no matter what I think about them caving in to nonsensical politics.
Some years ago, I'd have shared your thoughts but I've come to think differently over time. I absolutely believe the pendulum has swung too far, but I think that's likely necessary for awareness as it eventually comes to rest in the center.
Recently overheard a thirty something buyer in the office refer to a mid twenty's woman as the "Copy girl". It wasn't said with ill intent, but it's certainly had a tinge of station level in it. He didn't work for me, but I said, "Hey purchasing boy, got a minute?" and we discussed how if he didn't think "that" was an appropriate new title for him, why something seemingly said in fun "Copy girl" can be degrading for the other. A younger less aware me would have let that go, but by letting it go you're just mildly accepting and propagating sexism. Pick your "ism", IMO they're all the same in this regard - being passive is acceptance.
I have both an Indians and a Guardians jersey, my kid debuted in the last Indians season and is playing in the inaugural Guardians season, how cool is that... but I could care less what they call themselves, I enjoy the old school baseball, them being the youngest team in baseball by far and the amazing culture in the dugout. They're fun to watch and they just need to find the sticks... Go Guards!

My BF from Cleveland explained about the name change. Cool story.
What a great year that your son is involved in and I have watched them when my provider allows without subscription to Cleveland. For a small market team they have gotten tons of airtime.
Your son is living his dream and you are too! Congrats to you both.
I do not care what name comes after Cleveland!
I also agree, cool graphics.
As a life long Clevelander, I just glad they’re not called the Nashville something or others by now. Go Guardians! ( was at Saturday’s marathon game, place was ROCKIN!)

adbono - my online friends were asking me who I thought the top 5 players of all time were and beyond Jeter at #1 I was having a hard time coming up with a legitimate list. The best I could do was #2 Babe Ruth #3 Mariano Rivera #4 Freddy Patek and #5 Aaron Judge. I had to put one non Yankee in my top 5 to keep it real. You agree with 2 through 5? I know #1 is right. Thanks.

I have missed you.
The midges will not be a factor against evil empire this time.
Go Yanks!
Anybody else noticing the small ball and attention to old school details that we are seeing in the playoffs? More bunts, less strikeouts, more emphasis on situational hitting, etc. I love it and think it makes the game more fun to watch.
That home run by Alvarez was not small ball. Wow.

True. Neither was the one that got the Guardians the win against the Padres.
I was happy the Astros won only because of the little boy crying his eyes out.
Hopefully Yanks and Astros advance as it would be a more entertaining series.

The game winning hit was not. But what preceded it (and made it possible) was hbp and a single. Keep the line moving. Team baseball. You really want to get in a sparring match?

Of course it was. And the previous inning. I was trying (in the moment) to be humorous.

Hilarious

That is such your method of operation. You have been taking veiled shots at me for years. Then when I call you on it you feign innocence. So typical. I figured you out a long time ago. You wanna match wits with me on a baseball forum? Bring it on.
Son of JucoDad now on the mound for Cleveland
@JucoDad posted:Hill College, Texas juco Alum... He threw well, I'd have liked a different final score.
I believe he just struck out Carpenter in a key spot...... looked good.

That's what studs look like!
Struck out the side. Atta kid.
Awesome!
Struck out 4 in a row. Glad he's out now....

Midges hatch along Lake Erie several times a year.
"I was at the Browns game on Sunday after the wild-card series and they were out in full force and it was the middle of the day. So I can only imagine when we get back," Cleveland Guardians Game 3 starter Triston McKenzie said Friday.
