a pysch tests, pretty standard stuff, esp if you gonna be drafted high.

i took like 5 psych tests, so its not really a big deal, also took the test your talking about, basically it tests how competitive you are.

The 'ASP' is a test to messure a player in respect to being an introvert or an extrovert to being competitive or non competitive to being able to seperate off field issues while actually being on the field and playing. To messure over commitment or NON commitment or being over bearing or judgemental or needing a pat on the back to being a self motivator. It allows a way for a coach to know how to best deal with your ups and downs when you 1st enter pro ball and he does not know you along with the other 30 new players that he will be getting. Most clubs utilize the test, however, there are a few that do not use a test at all.

Well, carping aside, thanks to all for your responses.

We knew about these psych profiles and that some teams use them and some don't, but weren't aware that the MLBSB had this ASP.

We were mainly surprised to get the request to have son complete this one so late in the pre draft period.

TRHIT, its not a questionaire or a form as you described it and it was obvious you were clueless to what cosmos was even talking about. But I should understand that is what life is, the clueless lending advice, especially when it comes to the baseball draft.

Please pay closer attention to who posted what info before mis-stating or mis-interpretting....

I appreciate your perspective...Are you willing to disclose your profession or basis of information (or knowledge) relating to the draft? This would help folks, too.

Been through it, was drafted 3 times.

and I did state it correctly. The test is not a form its a test.

If I'm following the discussion's chronology right, I think you meant two months.

The outcome at our house was that my son was drafted. (The specifics of our story are posted elsewhere in appropriate topics.)

I agree that all evaluations and profiles should be completed to the best of your son's ability.

Our family did some things "right" and some things "wrong" as son moved from age 15 1/2 to 18, but it all turned out great.

I believe that doing a much of what's recommended in the recruitment timeline on this site is what a kid has to do. In addition, when it comes to the professional recruitment scene, you just have to take lots of deep breaths and fill out those forms to the best of your ability.

Ok, this is rather strange. Due to some deletions, it appears that I'm being a bum in my comments to another poster.

Actually, Old Slug had posted wondering what happened to our family after the draft. Then he and I were writing back and forth for a bit, with some chuckles thrown in.

Now HIS posts are missing from this thread and my last one DOES sound, minus his to me, like I was making fun of him. That wasn't the case, but it sure does look like that with his posts having been deleted.

Not sure how one handles something like this?? Hmmm... maybe an apology for the way it looks and sounds? I imagine deleted posts could cause lots of serious problems in discussion forum that runs as deep as this one.

At any rate, no, I wasn't attacking Old Slug, and, to the person who posted after me (Bully's mom), I'm sorry you got that impression.
