How will it be resolved if there only is half a season? Or worst case no season? Will players get a full year of service time? Or will that be delayed?

There are clauses in pro leagues collective bargaining agreements about not having to pay salaries when seasons are shut down for uncontrollable events.

I hinted to my son the same question a few weeks ago, his reply was "I dunno", typical lol. I understand not paying salaries (though don't necessarily agree since they are working out on own) but it goes further. With no salary does that mean service time is not counted? Makes a huge difference when talking about arbitration or free agency in the future. A year may not sound like a huge difference, but it can when a player is 29 vs 30, etc it can amount to millions $. I'm hoping worst case scenario is that no salary this season (or prorated if plays) but counts a full year towards service time in either case. Yeah, owners ultimately get hurt, I would probably see things differently If I was a MLB owner, but until then.....
It isn’t damaging in the long run if owners lose money. They make mega millions when they sell the franchise.
Apparently mlb agreed to credit full year of service in case any games are played, if no game is played end of 2019 service time counts.
Pretty good result for mlbpa.
