Big Grin clapping

They just didn't run things well. My wife bought a mini plan for my son and me last year. First after I told her I didn't want anything on the reserve level and that I'd rather be in the cheaper LF pavilion they told her that the reserve level wasn't any higher up than the pavilion and sold her reserve level tickets. It was a long way down from the reserve level to even the highest seats in the LF pavilion. The seats we got turned out to not be all that bad as they were right behind home plate. However they'd run out of hot dogs before the game was over at times and they ran out of soft serve ice cream by the third inning every single game. Not that big of a deal in and of itself but just an indicator of trying to cut corners and do things cheaply.

As annoyed as I was about the funds being diverted from the team to their personal finances I would've bought tickets again this year if the customer service had been decent last year but it wasn't.

Glad to see the team being taken over.

This is GREAT NEWS! The McCourt's have been a cancer to the Dodgers, the City of Los Angeles, Southern California, and the entire West Coast IMO...Please go back to Boston! BOF and CADad have mentioned a few good points, and besides the shortage of hot dogs and ice cream...we have the parking lot fiasco, the McCourt divorce mess, not to mention some of the Dodger fans/thugs/gang-members???that have embarrassed those of us who are true Dodgers Fans the past few years. I'm hoping the authorities find the two punks that gave Brian Stow (Giants Fan) a serious beating...honestly if McCourt sticks around, I'll probably be close to changing my allegiance, and I was born bleeding Blue! What a Mess...keep the pressure on Commissioner Selig!
I was wondering when the Dodger faithful would chime in....since you folks are closer to it and know the real story. Those media URL links paint a nasty picture of the situation out there.

Hats off to the "Commish" for protecting the Dodgers from their owner and this situation. Bud Selig gets a round of applause from this (impartial) baseball fan.

Whether or not Selig will be able to force McCourt's to sell the Dodgers remains to be seen.

Frank McCourt could and should sue (or threaten to) Selig & MLB. (I would imagine that is not what MLB need or want) That case could reach the Supreme Court.

And we are talking big big bucks here.
1/2 Billion.

Mrs. McCourt, who thinks she is 50% owner, and wants to run the club, may not have any say in the matter, according to Frank.

Made for Prime TV. I wonder what the title of the book and movie will be.

How about: Bleeding Dodger Blue

This is awesome news. My fantasy team took a beat down yesterday and I didn't even mind. I couldn't stop smiling thinking about a new Spring for the Dodgers.

Yesterday morning there was an article in LA times introducing new vice-chairman (on job less then 24 hours before teams taken away from his boss). When he was asked about the violence in Dodger stadium, he waxed poetic about issues being larger than the Dodgers and their home field, it goes to parenting and other societial issues. He blamed the customer. Spectacular.

bsbl247,

This is off topic but got me to thinking. John Wooden is a legend. I love everything he has ever said.

It makes me wonder if I've always had things mixed up. I've always said that when it comes to baseball my reputation is the most important thing of all. Guess I was thinking your character somehow determined your reputation. And isn't it important what others think you really are? What if others thought you were something completely opposite of who you are. Of course, that is the case sometimes.

Sorry for getting off the topic.

The bad news is that ML baseball decided that they needed someone who has worked in the financial sector to straighten things out. So Bud Selig appointed Lenny Dysktra to run the Dodgers since he seemed to remember him being a well known financial advisor. Big Grin
Bud is a member of The Player's Club. It's where Lenny gave a lot of his sound advice.

PGStaff,

I love all of John Wooden quotes, especially this one in particular. I get what you're saying, we can certainly look at it both ways...I'm one of those guys that wears my emotions on my sleeves. There have been a number of instances where I (as a person) may have been misread? In the long run you can't control what others think of you (your reputation), however you can can still do the right things and maintain a positive character...This probably isn't too far off topic, as a Dodgers fan, I've been questioning McCourt's reputation/character.

Okay, so now it's confirmed that the McCourts know less about baseball than most of us on this website.

If all of those positive thoughts that Baseball Moms and Dads send continuously toward the field don't seem to work consistently, how in the heck could the McCourts believe that some Russian physicist's thoughts would be any more effective?!

How about Eli Broad money? However, he would probably change some names. Can you live with Broad Stadium? Broad Ravine?
