That's very good advice, let's help creat a reserve.

I do beleive that if you all empty your pm boxes that helps and maybe it's time to delete some old posts. I am not sure how this works.

I do not think the images posted here effects bandwidth, as explained but not sure.

I just did my part - went in and deleted 50% of my old PM threads - keeping only those that are active or treasure troves of wisdom. If we all did that, it would certainly reduce the storage portion of the bill.

This month's bill was not quite so scary at $683.80. And I have money left over from last month's very generous helping hand from all of you, to help with this month. I am working on getting us moved to a less expensive but excellent host, but still working on software issues, to make sure we will keep all of the forum features we now have.

This made me think that perhaps you could just print out the ones that have the words of wisdom and then delete them. Just a thought.

Just wondering:

I see that we have "165 pages" of what I presume are just thread titles and information in the general forum alone. Can't even imagine what that entails in terms of actual pages of posts. It might be difficult but is there some way to delete some of those or is it too much of a task to look through and decide which ones could be deleted ... would imagine it is similar on other fora (please note the correct usage of the plural of forum )

I also like the idea of us regular and/or long-winded posters trying to contribute on a regular basis ... $10 a month is nothing when compared to the value received per post made/read. Heck, even for those of us who don't have sons moving up the baseball ladder now, there is a lot of just pleasure reading we get ... after all, some of the posts are pretty darn funny ... even when meant to be serious to some.

Yes, I have sometimes gone back through some of the older threads and found some that could be deleted, but as you noted, it is time-consuming. I think it's time to do that again though!

About Private Messages:

I confess that I have the bad habit of keeping old private messages around, but I try to delete mine from time to time. Any of you who can take some time to delete half of your old ones, it really does help to lower our hosting costs. We currently have over a half-million posts in our forums, and part of our extra charges every month are based on number of stored posts.

This really made me think of the education (and entertainment value) of the HSBBW vs. the other things I spend my cash on.

My son and I just went to a movie this afternoon and I think I laid out close to $30 (tickets, popcorn, drinks) for 2 hours of entertainment on a marginal movie.

Heck, I probably spent 2 hours catching up on the spirited JV Politics thread alone. (now that was entertainment) Makes my sporadic donations to the HSBBW seem like a pretty good value, especially when you find a gem like Coach May's "parents- some of understand" thread.

I think it's time to make another deposit.

Firt, there is a lot of quoting that is not necessary.
Julie, I can help you go and delete old stuff.

Many of the state threads and less frequent visited ones as well can be gone through also, some of it is not very useful.

The important ones to donate, are those that don't post or new posters that have gained valuable information with the regular posters information.
