Cox over Ocean Lakes 2-0. Well pitched game on both sides as Ryan Mattes went the distance for the Falcons and made two 1st inning runs stand up. Not sure how the home book read, but I'd have to score it a no hitter for Mattes as I believe the only two batters to reach 1b outside of a few walks, reached on jam shot slow rollers that our infield usually handles. Regardless, Ryan pitched a whale of a game, Sean Morimundo (sp?) pitched 5 strong innings for OL

Chris,

Your pitcher did a heckuva job.

Those 2 infield swinging bunts were definately hits, granted not the prettiest but I don't think your son or the 3rd baseman had a chance as Ross Jarzykna is pretty fast. The Cox 3rd baseman did make some very nice plays deep in the hole during the game I was very impressed by his play.

It was a fun game to watch, OL unfortunately couldn't come up with the timely hit when they had the opportunities.

I did like the fact the Casey B. threw out 2 of the 3 runners trying to steal at 2nd. Those were important seeing how they were both in 1st and 3rd situations and ended the innings.

All in all a great game to watch. Great pitching both teams, Great defense-no errors (that I remember).
I have to admit that my initial reaction was the same as yours, but after talking with Chris after the game, he says it was an error and would've made the play if he'd fielded it cleanly. I think the play to Zach was in the 6th and I had left by that time and missed it so I can't comment on that. You're right, Zach did make some very nice plays on balls hit down the line at 3b. I don't think there is anyone better at that position in the Beach this year
