Is this too big a jump for Monmouth baseball or will they be fine and able to compete in the CAA?

Stony Brook joined the CAA as well.
Haven't made the tournament since they joined the MAAC in 2014, and not from the NEC in 2009 before that. not likely to make it from CAA anytime soon. I would expect them to finish in the bottom half of CAA most years unless something is changing with the program.
This sounds like when Rutgers went to the Big 10. Switch driven by football and basketball - and maybe not the best move for the baseball program.
Also a bit of a bummer for parents. Trading a lot of local opponents for out of state ones. Makes getting to games harder.

Exactly my first thought Francis. This looks to be more of a basketball move than football. I've always found it interesting that NJ only has 8 D1 schools for their population (11th in the country).

NJ always gets hosed for baseball. IIRC, New Jersey has produced the most major leaguers of any state that doesn't have a MLB team.
It's a baseball state. They should have a MLB...it would help keep the Yankees and Mets in check with their prices...and they should have more college baseball teams at the D1 and D2 level.
