The stars have aligned, and south texas high baseball fans have gotten their wish. Two of the top teams in the state, and the nation, Corpus Christi Moody and CC Calallen will face off for the Region IV title and a trip to Round Rock. This will be a series of epic proportions. I know I sound biased, being a class of 96 Moody grad and all, but I really do have to give the edge to Moody in this series. When you account for competitiveness of their respective districts and no district schedules, they both are pretty equal. The edge goes to Moody because they have a deeper stable of battle-tested pitchers. Moody's no.1 and no.2 are 13-1 and 14-0 respectively with each boasting ERAs of below 1.00. Moody's No. 2 pitcher, Andrew Cantu, got the win over Calallen earlier this season with an 11 strikeout performance. Although Calallen has got some spectacular pitchers of their own, most of their season has come on the arm of staff ace Jordan John. Of course all the talking must be done on the field. Much luck to my Trojans!

Just got in to Corpus Christi, First of all what a beautiful city. Jake ole boy and posse are in the CC; I got a peak at CC Callertimesdotcom; you guys are very passionate about baseball down here. We've overheard several conversations about tommorrow nights battle and we just got in...wow..We can't wait. Don't want to toot my horn but I called this one preseason...ever since I saw CC Moody in 04' in Round Rock I've been a big Fan of CC Moody and CC Calallen.

1 and 2 in State
1 and 2 in Country
has this ever happened anywhere? this is crazy

Best wishes to both teams.

Rob Zastryzny (Calallen's Game 1 pitcher) is a junior and has yet to sign with a college, but LHP Jordan John has signed with Oklahoma and LHP Adam Hoelscher has signed with A&M-Corpus Christi. (Not sure if they'll each be able to go 7 innings or not, and I don't know anything about Calallen's bullpen other than 2010 RHP Zach Pusley, whom I think is pretty talented.)

If Moody's pitchers (Justin Meza, Andrew Cantu, etc.) are seniors, I would be interested in knowing what colleges they have signed with.
