Morton Mustangs Regional Champions

Why the hell would Morton pitch their ace against REAVIS?! Knowing that you have St. Rita and possibly Lyons right behind them...Risky move IMO.

Reavis, while bad, would've beaten Morton if anyone else pitched.

5 innings ... plenty of rest if he needs to come back next game

ha he won't be nearly as effective vs. Lyons or St. Rita

FWIW, St. Rita barely beat Argo

If Morton starts fast, they may be able to beat SR, too.

Not when you know that you have two consensus top #5 teams sitting in your sectional...

So are you all counting out St. Laurence? ah this should be a fun sectional. Morton vs STL could be a very good possiblity on next saturday morning.

Saving your "ace" for a game that never happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happened to a team at State Championships last year. They saved their "ace" for the game that was never played.

I wonder if Lockport saved their "ace" for the next game and then went out and lost to Lincoln Way East?

Funny thing how some coaches think--- for me it is simple-- there is no second game if you do not win the first--hopefully at this point in the season good coaches will have developed a "staff" not just one pitcher

it's win or go home so you can't save your "ace" for any one team...just go with your regular starting rotation

I totally agree with the above post, go with your regular rotation. If you get a big lead early, you can pull your "ace" and if he has hasn't pitched to much that game you can possibly use him for a few innings, if needed, the next game.

See thats the thing about baseball. Any team on any given day can beat anybody. I bet you didnt think Joliet Township would knock out JCA, nor did you think Lockport would be booted by Lincoln Way. Or did you? ah i didnt think so.

You still cannot expect to beat 2 of the best teams in the Midwest in your sectional alone without your ace ready.

Hey Thriller. St.L's ace will be ready vs L.T. and yes they will be gunning for them. They will worry about Rita when they get there, if Rita gets past Martinez.

Isn't St. Laurence's ace the one that throws 80 mph? Trust me, Rita v. LT in the sectional finals. That's the only game that LT has to worry about if at all.

Rita will get past Martinez and the Morton Mustangs and Lyons will beat St. Laurence

Im not here to say morton is going to win or lose but if i cant recall, rita had a very hard time against a very good hitting team and a pitcher not named izzy Martinez or jamie rodriguez. one thing you need to know about morton is that they are a very good hitting team. it doesnt matter who you throw at them they will go out fighting. they dont care if a pitcher is going D1,D2,D3, or if they throw 90mph. they just get the job done.

oh yeah and morton doesnt have alot 6'4 over powering players on there roster year in and year out like most major programs do but they still play with alot heart and that over comes a 6'4 powering player. hey but thats just me what do i know.

when does LT play St. Laurence and Morton play St. Rita again?

I'll probably show up late, thinking that the game will go 7 innings, but I'll get there only to find out LT slaughtered them. Just wait.

And by the way, Rita only squeaked away with 4 runs versus a very bad Argo team too. Rita plays small ball, I never expect them to give a big offensive game.

Wow, I remember when LT fans were complaining about DevilMan's bravado and now here one of them is guaranteeing a slaughter rule victory over a Catholic League co-champion with a 26-9 record. I think this is a classic case of the "Don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house" line.

Fine you are not a LT fan, but there is no way St. Laurence is going to get slaughtered. In fact I will predict that they win - I saw them against Naz and I was very impressed by their team play and intensity (and a great crowd) and I think LT will overlook them and St. Laurence will win.

LT vs. Rita
--Just like how it should be.

I hope the St. Laurence shortstop is ok. He took a hard grounder in the chest in the inning where LT scored most of their runs. Would have been out of the inning, otherwise, with the score 3-2.

how bout the left fielder running into the fence? should be the ESPN play off the year behind Rowand. i have never seen a kid go all out like that kid did. he should be commended and hopefully he will be okay. looks like maybe a day off of school is in order. they put up a good fight against LT. it was a close game for a while but,this aint no catholic team, we stick when we have to. no bunting.....geez what is with the catholic league teams and the BUNT? i guess dan will have to field his position on saturday and be ready for the bunt game....go LT. congrats to all the other teams in the sectional finals and good luck to all.....i love this game....copyright by sweaty

Ahhh SWEATY.. one bad inning... groundball bad hop was taylor made Dp. yet it opened up the floodgates, but what are you going to do . It happens. Yet, STL played with LT for all of the game until the 5th. Some timely hitting by the Vikings, and it could be a very different story. But once again you cant win them all. They will be back there again next year, with 7 of their 9 starters returning.
