Mound and home plate covers

The rain has started this year and for some reason the covers on the mound and plate are always letting water through. There are no big holes in the covers and even when its not raining it seems the spriklers get the mound and plate wet. My question is there a more effective way of keeping the mound and plate dry then a regular cover?

Only other option that I know of would be to put some catch drains off in foul territory and to run some pipe underground. Drainage is the only way to really prevent water collection in those areas, but good tarps certainly help.
