Great movie for baseball folk. The scenes from the Dominican Republic will involve you in the story quite well.
On the baseball movie scale I will give it an inside the park homerun (maybe not a grand slam but a darn good movie. I hope a theatre near you has it (we have a small screen that shows indy films so I was lucky to see it so soon).

note: bring your reading glasses because most of the dialogue is in Spanish with English sub-titles

I just watched it on the plane from Seoul yesterday. They are definitely shooting for realism in this one and I wouldn't call it a 'feel-good' story by any means. I do think, though, that it shows that life goes on.....all I can say without giving away too much.

I looked for Jerry Ford in it, since some was filmed in Iowa, but didn't see his handsome visage Big Grin

NOT a movie for younger baseball fans as there are some s_e_x scenes in it and quite a bit of boozin'.
