Hello, California!
Will be moving to the LA area due to job promotion, with my office in the Sylmar area. I have 2 boys: 1 is currently a sophmore lefty(B/T) and one in 13U select baseball in Dallas Texas. We are potenially looking to live in the Valencia/Santa Clarita area. Can anyone give me insights to the top HS programs in this area, as well as top summer programs in the area for tryouts. Thanks and am looking forward to any feedback.

You will be moving into one of the strongest baseball regions in the greater LA area.

Hart is normally the class of the area, closely followed by Valencia. I see West Ranch is on top of the league this year however.

I know someone at Hart and I am also know a very good pitching instructor in the area who could provide some insight if you want. Send me a PM if interested.
Hello Players;

Jake Wilson Rays Southern California Scout has organized a Pro Tryout on the 17 May at the Otay Ranch High School; 1250 Olympic Parkway in Chula Vista, Ca. 91913.
Please check in at 8 am. There is no charge!!!

This is also an opportunity to discuss our December trip to Australia with the Rays scout and evaluation for the Rays Scout team.

Last year, 12 players from the Australia trip have signed with strong college baseball programs.

"When Ted Williams was up to bat in batting practice, he continued to talk to the BP catcher during his hitting. In would come another pitch. Again a swing, a line drive. This was fascinating to me because here Williams was showing this young player and telling him how good he was and where he could hit the ball anytime he wanted to and where the money was in hitting it to right field. " this is fun," he would say. " I could do this all day ---and they pay me for it."

Divison I includes both private and public schools as does Division II. Some leagues have primarily private schools such as the Trinity league which is a Division I league. Most Division I leagues and schools are not private. The Divison II Mission league is primarily private schools but most Division II leagues and schools are not.

Leagues are put in Division I or lower Divisions based primarily on performance. Even so there are Division II teams that are significantly better than most Division I teams. In general Division I is stronger than Division II however.
