Did the scout ratings take into consideration anything other than the results from scout day? In other words, did the kids size, projectability, or play in the MSL games get used when determining their rating or, was it just the scout day results?

Also, thanks to all involved in putting on MSL -- outstanding opportunity for kids to be seen.
Before questioning the ratings of the scouts and college coaches who do this type of thing for a living has anyone considered that maybe the "for sure D1/ Pro prospects" didn't find it necessary to play in this league. I would think that these truly elite players would have been seen and noticed already.
Not to get off topic but why would this type of player want to play fallball at all after the highschool and summer season? What does it really accomplish for him besides getting in a few extra swings and a few extra innings(which he probably doesn't need)?

disclaimer: This is not a slam of the MSL or any other fall league. I am just asking a question or two.
Hard not to take that as a slam to MSL! The gentlemen of MSL did a wonderful job for the boys of MSL. Very doubtful that all the "for sure D1/Pro Prospects" were playing in other leagues or decided not to play at all. There are many DI prospect that played in MSL. These ratings are just a good guide, not a for sure thing. I have known of many players that were rated DII/Juco by MSL, who were actually signed by D1 schools. My suggestion is not to take these rating as FACT, just look at where you son stands compared to the other almost 200 players as your guide. If you were at MSL, you saw the talent.
I liked how the MSL posted the ratings a few years ago - they posted them based upon the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. That way, the player and his parents could identify their son's results and see how he stacked up against the rest of the league but you didn't know exactly who was who. If you are using phone numbers, it wouldn't be too hard to find out your friends, HS or summer teammates ratings if you know their phone numbers.

I don't understand why they are hiding their identities. It's suppose to be a scout league, put the names out so we can see who is who. Don't make it so difficult to identify the players. I know you can do some research or just call the MSL guys, but why not just post the players info. Like other talent reporting organizations such as Perfect Game.
MSL was a blast! Agree scores seemed low, but Cather phrased it about right and Just Saying really said it all. Ratings are subjective, take it for what it is. We had a friend son's go through last fall, had a relative low score and now plays for a small D1. Really nice talent all-around on every team and MSL sent a couple of teams to both coast to showcase and both did well in the showing! Top to bottom, every team out there had pitching, hitting, and SPEED! My son said he would do it again next year. Chill people about scores and enjoy the ride, it's over way to soon.
BS - not sure what you are trying to start here, but MSL can post the way they want to. Are u a scout or something or do u just want your son's name in lights?
Anyway, my son played last fall and he was rated low, but didn't matter. He got a scholarship to a good JUCO and is now going to a D1. If a scout likes a player he will evaluate that player himself.

Also, have some friends that played for the first time this fall...not a high rating, but is getting lots of calls and has been asked to go workout at some schools. So don't worry to much about those ratings. Great job MSL.
