MT. ST. Marys (MD)

Grew up in Emmittsburg. It is a small school with a good business program. The baseball team has been one of the lower ranked DI programs for a number of years. Not much to do off campus, as the town is only about 1000 people and the cities of DC and Baltimore are about 90 minutes away.

Two kids from my high school play there, Coach Thompson has talked to me at events and he is a real nice guy, like deldad said, they are a small school in the NEC conference. They just had a renovation to the baseball field, I am going up there for Junior Recruit Day April 24th to check out the new facility for the first time.

Thanks You for the info my son was invited there to attend Junior Day on April 24th. Not sure if he should go thats why I am asking about the college he has a varsity baseball game that day.

Respond to the invite and let them know there is HS Varsity game involved---perhaps you go down and see the school on another day

Thanks Trhit was wondering should he miss his game that day and go just to see the campus or just write to them like you suggested and not go.

To me missing a HS game to make a college visit is a nono---it tells something about the player--you can visit anytime--HS on LI is just a few short weeks and not a lot of games---he has a responsibility to his teammates

Thats what my son said but wasn't sure if a college visit was more important than a hs game, thanks again for the great advice TRhit

Roseanne-please feel free to send me a PM when you are headed down, I will give you some ideas on where to stay and where to eat. Also some neat places to visit other than the campus while you are in the area.

I would also suggest that your Son do some homework on other schools in the area and plan to stop in 1 or 2 others since you are making the drive down, make the most of your time (if u can schedule with the coach thats the best).

This strategy worked for us and saved taking multiple trips to the same general area. We even just drove through some campuses and walked around (when we had not been in touch with the coach) just to get a feel for the campus and area. I think it helped.

Thank You he has already been to UMBC, Towson, and University of Maryland. When he went to UMBC for a camp took a ride to Univ. of Maryland and when we went to an O's game took a ride to see Towson.
