Yes, Lowry's team is now DBAT 16 for 2006. Kurt has been an instructor at DBAT for some time now and we are fortunate to have his team as part of the DBAT family.

John,

Don't know about you, but to me, these two quotes are on the opposite end of the scale. No news.....HAHAHAHAHAHA

Congrats to the Lowry boys, that's a special group.

Must've slipped my mind, and, hey, a lot can happen in 48 hours! Anyways, I dug around some and that's the best I could find... kidding

You say that you were treated fairly by the Mustang organization, however you still made the switch? That smells of something and doesnt' seem to be the way you treat a class guy like Sam Carpenter. Didn't he take you all in last year with open arms...what, something better (supposedly) comes along and you abandon them? Just another example of what is wrong with select baseball in Dallas/Ft Worth. Hope it works out for you all, I doubt very seriously that the grass is any greener where you are going.
Leftfield9 -- first post -- you're baiting -- but I'll take the bait. Sam Carpenter and the Mustang organization is first-class, including the other teams in our age group. Coaches Sharp, Wortham, and Rosar are great baseball guys. We were treated fairly, but this isn't really a question of loyalty. Many on our team have a long-term relationship with DBAT -- this is more of a natural "move", and should not shock anyone. Our GM is a long-time personal friend of Cade's and Kyle's -- and Curt Lowry works at DBAT. Sam was aware of these things when he accepted us. Also, we paid the same "fees" as every other Mustang team. We did not receive special treatment and did not expect it. We joined the Mustangs with a plan to remain there. None in our group is angry with the Mustangs. Our coaches and parents respect Sam and his baseball "history". One of our guys plays for Sam at St. Marks. This move is an opportunity. We will be the sole 16U team at DBAT.

This isn't a conspiracy to make anyone look bad. It's not that complicated really. Mustangs loyalists, I have a feeling you have faced similar decisions along the way. Our management team's decision is good for us today -- is the grass greener? -- who knows? In either case, having a great group of talented players and excellent parents is our key ingredient -- wherever we play.

Both organizations will continue to provide opportunity to their players. The Mustangs will continue to have a special place in my son's "baseball heart" -- and we hope Sam and his group will continue to look forward to playing with us and against us.

Sorry if my "rebuttal" doesn't stir up much controversy.

Longtoss -- it's like most other teams. DBAT will provide a number of tryout dates and continue to assess players that want to be involved. But (also like most teams) there are very good players that may not be a good "fit". Yesterday, we saw 8 good players. In my opinion -- which really doesn't matter in the formulation of this roster, I'm just a dad -- some of them are good enough to play on this team....but....they may not be a good fit in terms of their goals or desires. It seems to me that most tryouts -- for the BigTimers or the Mustangs or the Tigers or anyone -- focus on "needs". Our team has specific needs. You can fill in the blanks. I do know that "pitcher only" players are becoming a hot commodity. The question is...are 15-16 year olds, and their parents, ready to accept that role? In some cases, that might be a perfect opportunity.

Few organizations have A and B teams (is that politically correct?). So, "leftovers" (your word) are indeed left to find an ideal spot elsewhere. In that regard, select baseball is cold. In the case where the players are good enough but do not "fit" -- there are usually several options -- and most do very well.

This particular situation is no different than those that considered the Dodgers last year.

Let's talk about OTHER rumors! Smile

Leftfield9, thanks for the kind comments regarding our team. We have all worked hard, over the years, to get to the point we are now. If you don't beleive me, just ask my wife. Smile

Regarding loyalty, I am not a cut throat type of person. Our decision was based on a lot of factors, including my relationship with Dbat. My relationship with Dbat was not the over riding factor but certainly was part of the discussions. I don't feel comfortable talking about those reasons on a baseball message board but suffice it to say, we made this change because we thought it was best for all involved. Our decision was unamimous and we will not look back.

Again, I am very grateful to Sam Carpenter and the Mustangs organization for all of their help this past year. Sam was very gracious when we told him about our decision and has moved on, i.e. Dodgers merger. We look forward to many great games with the Mustangs, Tigers, etc. in the years to come. Smile
