Which area players have decided to attend non-D1 NCAA schools?

One of the other posts mentioned that Charlie Johnson (Oak Forest) had given a verbal commitment to SXU.

I am especially interested in the kids looking at St. Xavier and St. Francis (and Olivet Naz) - but I think most of the kids not going "big time" have been overlooked in the various threads.

PBR has Hagins to UIC - which raises a question:

What are the "rules" as they pertain to a kid (at least vebally) comitting to an NAIA and NCAA school. Suppose a player gives an **** pledge to an NAIA coach but has a bustout senior season ... then gets big interest from NCAA D-1 schools -- what restrictions are there?

I don't know the story with the P from Barrington (Marshall?) - but he seems to fit into the "big senior season" category and was (at least according to posts on this site) considering schools well into the summer.
The main reason that I asked was:

Baseball America's 2006 college preview had a story about possible changes on the horizon and scholarships were one of those. The article mentioned that one possibility was to give baseball teams a full 20+ scholarships and players would not get partial $$ anymore.

If kids can renege on an NAIA commit in favor of a full ride to a D1 school that comes along late in the spring, after the draft -- how will that change the way NAIA and JC schools do business (and lower level NCAA schools)?
Deuce:

That was a regrettable mistake, for which I emailed all subscribers and coaches to inform them of it immediately after it was called to my attention. I understand the consequences, and I will do my best to ensure that will not happen again. I realize this is a late response to a Feb. 15 post, but for the 10 or 12 readers out there, I don't want them to think I'm negligible.

Again, I apologize.

Here is an updated from the University of St Francis webiste. LETTER OF INTENT SIGNEES
(2007 Season)

C/IF Patrick Grady (Sandburg H.S./Orland Park, Ill.)

OF Andrew Hagins (Oak Park-River Forest HS/Oak Park, Ill.)

P/OF David Heasley (Crystal Lake Central H.S./Crystal Lake, Ill.)

P/OF Brandon Kvistad (West Leyden H.S./Melrose Park, Ill.)

OF Tom Serruto (Glenbard West H.S./Glen Ellyn, Ill.)

P Michael Strimel (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, Ill.)

Looks like a good group for Coach Gillespie.
its good to see another superb group of players going to St. Francis. Ever since Coach Gillespie returned, some good players are actually considering playing there. Our team last year was loaded with great freshman who made a large contribution to our region final appearance. Look for St. Francis to do some damage next year as the whole pitching staff returns.

Caught my eye. Jessie Colon, C from Lincoln Park, is headed to Olivet Naz. Talk about overlooked...going to Lincoln Park didn't boost his baseball career, as far as I can tell. Roll Eyes Smart kid, all-around. Coached a 14-16 yr old team with me when he was 14. He did most of the work (and got most of the back-talk, lol). I was always impressed by that... and when my kid started HS the next year, and I saw coaches calling the games (!), I was even more impressed to remember Jessie'd been calling his own games for years.
