Son signed in December with NAIA Jamestown College (North Dakota) of the Dakota Athletic Conference. The document he signed was a "Dakota Athletic Conference Letter of Intent".

If son should (for whatever reason) change his mind and head to a different DAC school, the document states he would be unable to participate in athletics for a period of 16 weeks after the date of his enrollment (August of this year).

That is the only stipulation in the document. He (apparently) could change his mind and go to any school outside the DAC, at any level, without penalty.

I don't know if this is typical of all NAIA schools or not but thought I'd share our experience.
Hey equipman,
We live in Ca. and my son signed with Northwestern IA. and his letter was from the college and not the Conference. On the letter it says "Acceptance is in accordance with the ruls of the NAIA governing Letter of Intent" . So there are some ruls it looks like. Also there are 2 divs in naia that i know of. I do remember that one of the ncaa coaches that was calling saying that the ncaa letters are for 1 year.
bsballfan,

The Coach is a good guy. My son really likes him. He likes all the guys on the team. We know a few guys that play D1 and Taylor U. practices and conditions more than they do. They are a very good baseball team, that can compete with any school in the area, including D1-in my opinion. Lost to Indiana University by 1 run after leading most of the game. If you need more info leave me a PM.
