I've read the other related thread that's now closed, but didn't really see the answer to this:

If coaches are not supposed to have ANY recruiting conversations prior to 9/1 of Junior year, how are all these 2020's announcing their commitments?  Did they start communication w/the coaches prior to the new rules? Or, is everyone just ignoring the rules?

I have a young 2020 that is still physically maturing and is just now starting his recruitment efforts and it feels like he is waaaaaaaayyyy behind.

TIA!

He may be way behind the 2020 (and younger) kids who are committing now, but he's probably not behind where he should be. If he was projected to play at the level of those commits, chances are schools would have figured out a way to contact him. The vast majority of kids who play college ball choose a school after their junior year of high school. Yes, the better D1 programs make offers before that, but that leaves more than half of D1, and all of D2, D3, NAIA, and juco to fill their rosters with high school seniors.
