GB wins 14-5
Just looking for a recap of the game and who did what. These 2 teams have been through some slugfests and I thought we might have another one. Go Dawgs or anyone else have details of how it happened?
GB sat on pitching and no one else could.
They used thier #1 v Keoghatan (sp) and then their #3 and #5 to finish the job.
They beat Kellam with their #3 going 1 innning and thier 4th pitcher going the final 6.
Last night they started their #5 and then went to their #2 and wrapped it with their #6 pitcher.
GB is far deeper than any team in the Eastern Region and when you get into 3 games in 4 days it shows.

The game started very much like the District Tournament Championship game the week before. Nansemond River started with 3 consecutive hits by Tyler Brown, Josh Howard and Brandon Lowe before Zach Vann laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Howard and Lowe to 2nd and 3rd. A two run double by Kyle Moore and RBI single by Travis Johnson chased starting pitcher Bart Gumpert. Enter Connor Jones who got consecutive strikeouts to end the inning. Jones would end up throwing 5.1 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 5. In the bottom of the frame, Great Bridge had a man on first with 1 out when an error on a double play ball extended the inning. Brian Beard made the Warriors pay by lacing a two-run double to left centerfield. NR4 GB 2
In the 2nd inning, NR starting pitcher Trevor Riggs walked two batters and gave up a single to load the bases with 1 out. After a Hunter Higgerson sac fly scored Austin Owens Jimmy Cody cleared the bases with a triple, Beard followed with a double, Steven Dudley walked and Preston Grissom hit an RBI single chasing Riggs from the mound. Reliever Dylan Roach gave up an RBI single to Ashton Groves before getting the final out of a very long inning, GB 8 NR 4.
In the third, GB tacked on 4 more when 5 consecutive Wildcats reached base on 4 singles and a walk. GB 12 NR 4 after 3 and....game over.
