I have a player that is wanting to go to this showcase. It is in Ft. Myers. Anyone been? How is the pro scout population at this event? Will he be seen by a large amount of professional scouts if he goes or is kind of like the tourneys were the scouts move around so some see him but some dont?

I have a question on whether it is wise to send my son to this showcase after his summer baseball was cut short and did not play fall ball because of some old arm issues, that have now been addressed, fixed and he is back to throwing but not to live batters. Will it hurt him if he goes and does not do as well as he could potentially do after he has been playing for a while with his HS team? He is a 2012 RHP, 6'6" who was throwing 89 last spring with a sore elbow/weak shoulder, but he has only been to one small showcase so we're afraid time is running out for him to be seen. We're new at this and after reading all the posts on here, we feel we're way behind. Thanks for the input.
vtmom,
As to your question, this showcase, the first my son did, will help him to recognize where he may sit in the overall scheme of things compared to his peers who he will be competing for in 2012. Many of the attendees are from the southeast, so for son, he was more or less getting an idea where he stood here in state.

Being so far away and an expense, and not knowing your son's level of talent, not sure if this would be the right one for your son however, it will be a good opportunity to get a good evaluation.

I suggest you contact Jerry Ford at Perfect Game (PGStaff here), he is most helpful in helping to try to figure out what may be the beter showcase fit for your son.

A 6'6" 2012 throwing upper 80's will likely stand out and get a ton of attention at an event like this. You may be surprised at the amount of attention he gets at and after the event. IMO, if it is feasible for you to get there it would be a wise investment.
