Take baby steps! I would start with tee work first, then short front toss, followed by BP. Like Florida said, hitting oppo is good but you want to hit to all fields. This will be a challenge as you play at the next level.
Welcome aboard Jake! What level of ball are you currently playing?

My son hit oppo predominately most of the years he has played. He is still working on turning on pitches on the inside of the plate. But he hit with power, hitting HR's that way.

He hit a fair amount oppo this past year as well, hitting behind runners is a good thing, so long as you are hitting with power.

It sounds as though you are waiting on pitches and letting them get deeper into the strike zone. This should also indicate that you do not strike out much.

If that is the case, I would encourage you to just try to become more aggressive on pitches that are over the middle of the plate or middle in. See them sooner and recognize that pitch sooner and drive it up the middle or to your pull side.

Read the pitch and trust your hands.

The White Sox really enjoyed my son's ablility to hit behind runners. He continues to work on turning on that inside pitch more often, which is in his wheelhouse and should result in a HR.
