NAVARRO BASEBALL HOSTS CLASS OF 2012 and 2013 SHOWCASE
Navarro College jointly will sponsor and host a Class of 2012 and 2013 Baseball Showcase at Perry D. Graham Field -- the campus home of the 2011 NJCAA National Champions.
The Showcase first is scheduled Saturday, November 5, according to Bulldog head coach Whoa Dill and assistant Matt Podjenski. Grayson jointly will sponsor and host another Showcase on Saturday, November 19.
Grayson, North Central Texas and McLennan Community Colleges are helping Navarro to sponsor the event. Representatives from quality baseball programs at those schools also will be on site for the camp that will be run similarly to a professional tryout.
Of course, Navarro has been a conference champion 10 of the last 13 years and averaged 40 wins over the last four years. Grayson, a three-time national champion (1999, 2000, 2008), has been a Top 5 finisher in Region V the last five seasons. The North Central Texas program claimed the 2001 championship and averaged 30 wins over the last four years. McLennan, a Region V Tournament qualifier five of the last six seasons, averaged 32 wins over the last four years.
By participating, attending prospects will gain recognition for the fall and spring recruiting process. Prospective players will be evaluated for arm strength, fielding ability, speed from a timed 60, and hitting mechanics. Campers also will be involved in a scrimmage during the day.
Entry fee is $80 per person by November 1. Camp-day registration will be a cash-only, $100 per person.
