Any insights/experiences with JUCO in NC. We are in Va and our 2012 LHP so has received some interest from 4 years schools, but his academics may hold him back. Thanks for your responses
We visited several JUCOs last year during my son's senior season. He was recruited by five or six of the NC JUCOs, though he ultimately signed with a D2. Shoot me a PM if you want some private assessments of what I saw and what I have heard from others.
I agree with redbird...Pitt and Louisburg are considered the better programs in NC. Don't count out some D3's. A few of them have fairly low academic entrance requirements.
I remember my son was talking to the Louisberg coach 2-3yrs ago. I think it was Coach Thomas (?).
He was the headcoach. And I can say without ANY hesitation that this Coach was the most sincere, genuine, and straight talking coach we had ever encountered. This man oozed integrity and character.
Looking back I wish he would have played for him but things weren't meant to be at the time.
If you live in southeast VA, College of The Albemarle in Elizabeth City is in their second year with a baseball program but they have done well so far. Just this past weekend they split a double header with Louisburg. The coach for COA is from VA Beach. I think his name is Norbie Wilson.
